Barr Lake State Park, Colorado Parks and Wildlife
2018 Outstanding Environmental Educator Award Recipient
Michelle Seubert is the Park Manager at Barr Lake State Park a Colorado Parks and Wildlife managed state park in Brighton, Colorado. Ms. Seubert has been working for Colorado Parks and Wildlife since she was 18 years old. You could say her love of the outdoors and environmental education is a lifelong passion. When Ms. Seubert started at Barr Lake visitation was very low and there were not very many programs for people in the community, but by using her marketing background she has turned it into a park that is not only one of the top birding places in Colorado but also recognized for the hundred plus environmental education events the park holds every year.
Ms. Seubert works hard to make Barr Lake an inclusive place for all in the community to visit. She recognizes that there is a lack of diversity in the parks and strives reach groups that are typically under-served in the outdoor world. Ms. Seubert demonstrates her enthusiasm and passion for providing environmental education opportunities by just the vast number of events she hosts at Barr Lake. Ms. Seubert is always looking for new ways to bring families and kids to the park. Michelle Seubert deserves the Outstanding Environmental Educator award because she works so hard to foster a love of the outdoors and learning in every person she meets. She is an inspiring leader in the outdoor community and has paved the way for her staff and volunteers to achieve their goals.
