Colorado Parks and Wildlife - Mueller State Park
2023 Outstanding Retiring Environmental Educator Recognition Recipient
Linda has dedicated her career, which spans over 30 years, to teaching others about the natural world around us. Linda has worked for a variety of agencies over the years including four National Parks, Indiana State Parks, and a city park in Michigan, but she has spent the last 25 years dedicated to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. This fall she will be retiring from the agency where she was most recently the Program Coordinator at Mueller State Park.
At Mueller State Park she created new school programs, both in-school and field trips, to teach students from the Pikes Peak Region about local wildlife, plants, ecosystems, and recreation opportunities. She has worked with many Pikes Peak Region organizations such as Catamount Institute, the Florissant Fossil Beds, local school districts, Rocky Mountain Elk Fountain, and Newmont Mine to encourage partnership in conservation and education. Not only has Linda exposed thousands of Mueller State Park visitors to the wonders of the outdoors, but she was also an inspiration to many individual staff members. She was uniquely positioned in her role at Mueller to pass on her knowledge and mentor several park interns who later obtained full-time employment with CPW and other natural resource organizations.
