Aisha O’Neil is a current CU Boulder student who has demonstrated a commitment to environmental education by founding the Good Trouble Climate Network in February of 2024. Aisha was motivated to start making good trouble while a student at Durango High School. 

Good Trouble’s original mission was focused on advocating for the Seal of Climate Literacy. The Colorado Seal of Climate Literacy is a high school diploma and transcript endorsement that recognizes Colorado students who demonstrate strong climate knowledge and real-world leadership.

Good Trouble found its voice in advocacy for Senate Bill 24-014 - the bill which would establish the Seal of Climate Literacy. Aisha and Good Trouble built a coalition of student voices through a grass roots campaign utilizing social media, letter writing, and organized student testimony in support of the bill. Looking to empower other passionate students, Good Trouble developed a training for students to learn how they could also give testimony in support of SB 24-014.

If you asked Aisha which accomplishments she’s most proud of, she would instead speak to how the Good Trouble Network continues to provide an avenue for Colorado students to have their voices heard at a state-wide level as her favorite achievement.

Aisha remains involved with Good Trouble as its Executive Director. She leads an executive committee made up of eight high school and college students dedicated to building a sustainable community to ensure that Coloradan students have a voice in the decisions which will impact their futures. From Durango to Denver, or the statehouse to Boulder, Aisha has been passionate about making good trouble wherever she goes.
