The Associate works at the front desk of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Grand Junction Field Office (GJFO) under the direction of CCA’s Program Coordinator in coordination with BLM staff. The Associate will be responsible for CCA bookstore duties and will assist with National Conservation Area (NCA) related duties conducted from the GJFO. The Associate may also perform appropriate office tasks for other BLM employees as requested. Duties:  Conduct CCA bookstore duties Manage the CCA cash register and process cash, check, and credit card transactions Conduct bookstore sales and sales of BLM maps, passes, and permits (such as National Parks passes, firewood, and Christmas trees) Inventory and restock CCA merchandise in the bookstore display Close out the bookstore at month-end  Transmit inventory and deposit slips to CCA Bookkeeper Work at the GJFO front desk greeting visitors and providing information related to NCA recreation and land use Answer and direct incoming phone calls to proper contacts at GJFO or CCA Assist with the annual BLM NCA Manager’s report Process incoming and outgoing BLM mail Register reports of illegal use, garbage dump sites, and other complaints Help BLM maintain long-term mail, visitor, and recreation-related tracking logs and databases Perform other BLM assigned duties such as organizing/stocking supplies and other general office work Complete special projects such as filing or updating databases and mailing lists Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Program Coordinator Qualifications: Ability to fulfill CCA’s mission by fostering community stewardship of our National Conservation Lands and other public lands Familiarity with local BLM lands, especially the National Conservation Areas, and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge about public lands with visitors Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a wide variety of visitors Positive attitude and friendly disposition with patience for repetitive questions and tasks Desire to learn about BLM and CCA Ability to learn quickly and work independently Basic computer and telephone skills Ability to pass federal background check Demonstrated reliability to fulfill the assigned work schedule
