CDTC builds a diverse community of CDT supporters by developing partnerships with outdoor recreation organizations, individuals, and volunteers along the trail, as well as through the CDT Gateway Community program, which aims to create advocates and stewards of the trail in communities along its length. The Community Engagement Coordinator will raise awareness of the CDT by assisting with community outreach, supporting the CDT Gateway Community program, and developing trail information. Contribute to CDTC’s community outreach programs by: Maintaining a community event calendar Recruiting, training, and managing relationships with a nationwide team of outreach and event volunteers and offering appropriate CDTC support for these initiatives Providing administrative assistance to the CDTC’s on-trail outreach program, CDT Trailblazers Supporting partner events by attending and providing information about the CDT and CDTC Representing CDTC and/or recruiting volunteers to represent CDTC at special events Providing administrative support to outreach volunteers by providing communications and mailing materials Provide administrative support to the CDT Gateway Community program by: Helping provide Gateway Community volunteers with appropriate CDT and CDTC materials via email and post communications Assisting with the CDTC Business Membership program Assisting in planning and creating communications and programming for a Gateway Community Summit in the fall; following up with summit participants Helping the Gateway Community Manager plan the annual Continental Divide Trail Days event in Silver City in April 2021 and similar events in other Gateway Communities Helping recruit, train, and manage up to 36 Gateway Community Ambassadors Attending Gateway Community Ambassador events as opportunities arise Maintaining the CDTC website with up-to-date community information Tracking volunteer hours and accomplishments Support CDTC’s outreach, education, development and communications efforts with graphic design, online, written, and print communications needs by: Spreading the word about the CDT as a recreational resource and helping people access the trail by developing informational and marketing materials such as local trail guides Assisting with the development of educational materials such as CDT curriculum, lesson plans, and citizen stewardship projects to engage students along the trail Implementing lesson plans, conservation education, and other educational programming with students of all ages in CDT Gateway Communities and along the trail. Sharing stories of CDTC’s programs via blog posts, e-news, social media, and other strategies Assisting in writing and submitting grant proposals to support various CDTC programs, including the Gateway Community program and local efforts along the trail
