Garden to Table Mission & Vision

Since 2006, Garden to Table has been committed to using experiential gardens as a teaching tool to educate children about the benefits of healthy eating and environmental stewardship. Our vision is to unite people around a shared goal of creating healthier children, schools, communities and the planet.


Position Description

The East County Garden Coordinator will work at 5-6 elementary schools in East Boulder County (with a possibility of work in West Boulder County in the summers) to complete necessary growing season tasks. The vast majority of the work is performed alone with guidance from our Garden Director. The East County Garden Coordinator will maintain our partner schools’ gardens in collaboration with parents, make weather-based adaptations, prepare for garden-based lessons, and complete miscellaneous duties. Candidate needs to be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks, have a willingness to learn and have strong communication skills in both Spanish and English.



Spring Garden Setup & Maintenance

  1. Irrigation setup for spring planting
  2. Setup and maintenance of lettuce hoop houses
  3. Weekly garden maintenance and water checks
  4. Prepare soil for summer planting and setup summer irrigation
  5. Clean, repair and store hoop covers for school gardens

Summer and Fall Garden Maintenance

  1. Set up garden structures, wind protection, trellises, etc.
  2. Monitor plant watering amounts, check and repair irrigation
  3. Weekly garden maintenance- (weeding, reseeding, staking, thinning, pruning, training, harvesting etc.)
  4. Monitor plants for pests, disease and soil problems
  5. Amend school gardens, store equipment and prepare irrigation for winter
  6. Work with Garden Director to accomplish miscellaneous tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Experience with vegetable garden maintenance
  2. Good stamina and strength, ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift 40 lbs
  3. Flexibility, reliability, dedication, and enthusiasm for the mission of Garden to Table
  4. Knowledge of vegetable plants
  5. Possess a valid Colorado driver’s license (mileage will be reimbursed)
  6. Able to pass BVSD background check
  7. Ability to communicate in both Spanish and English
  8. College degree is NOT required
