Project Learning Tree Explore Your Environment K-8 Workshop
PLT provides teachers, parents, youth group leaders, foresters, and community members with fun and engaging, activities and training to take children outside to learn about trees, forests, and the broader environment. You are invited to participate in this highly active, hands-on session to experience and model several PLT activities at the Beach House at Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs.
Learn how you can use PLT activities, along with other resources and strategies, to engage students in action-oriented projects. Enhance your teaching skills and become comfortable teaching outdoors. Connect with other educators and create a plan to put the materials to use right away in your own classroom, playground, or nature center.
Participants will receive a copy of the award winning PLT Explore Your Environment K-8 Activity guide. This new guide includes 50 hands-on, multidisciplinary activities to connect children to nature and increase young people’s awareness and knowledge about their environment. Activities integrate teaching about the environment into a multitude of subjects using hands-on classroom studies and outdoor field investigations. The guide is user-friendly, and works in classrooms and nonformal settings, in urban, suburban, and rural areas.
