Sign up for the Principles &\; Foundatio ns of Environmental Education online course.\n \n Principles and Foundations of Environmental Educat ion is a professional development course aimed at classroom teachers and non-formal educators who wo uld like to gain basic knowledge of environmental education (EE) and how it can be incorporated into their instruction. Through on-line distance learn ing\, course participants will explore the history and goals of EE\, develop an understanding of the professional roles and instructional methods of e nvironmental educators\, and interact with other e ducators across the country. \n \n Participants wi ll work both individually and collectively by givi ng and receiving feedback in a virtual large discu ssion format. Themes include En vironmental Literacy\, Foundations of Environmenta l Education\, Professional Responsibilities of the Environmental Educator\, Planning and Implementat ion\, and Assessment and Evaluation. Each theme in cludes competencies or statements of what individu als are expected to be able to demonstrate. \n \n Competencies are included in a rubric with measure able or observable actions that would enable one t o judge whether an individual has mastered a parti cular competency. Each week\, you will be submitti ng at least one piece of evidence that demonstrate s your understanding of the theme. Assignments can become portfolio pieces that can be submitted as part of your Certified Environmental Educator port folio (Optional). You may need to submit additiona l evidence to achieve Certification. \n \n There w ill be two assignments each week. By Tuesday \ ;of each week\, participants will need to submit o ne piece of evidence addressing the competencies f or that week&rsquo\;s theme.
