EE in Colorado's Academic Standards
The Colorado State Board of Education adopted new Colorado Academic Standards in December of 2009. These standards outline what every Colorado learner should know and be able to do by the time they graduate from high school.
Six CAEE members served on the subcommittees responsible for revising the science and social studies standards and numerous members commented on drafts throughout the public feedback process.
The result: Environmental education is integrated throughout the new standards.
The new standards are currently being transitioned into schools and districts across the state, with full implementation slated for 2014 when a new assessment system is in place. Contact CAEE for resources and tools to help your school or district integrate more environmental education.
